
'BB' Watkins-Pitchford
CENTENARY CELEBRATIONS 2005
The Centenary of the acclaimed writer and illustrator BB (Denys Watkins-Pitchford)
falls on 25 July 2005 and will be celebrated in a number of ways by members
of the BB Society.
A man of many talents and interests, BB's 60 or more titles include works on
wildfowling; fishing (particularly carp) travel and caravanning; butterfly conservation;
children's stories; wildlife and the countryside.
In order to cater for all tastes, the BB Society has drawn up a programme of
events as follows:-
• Art Exhibition
12th March - 8th May 2005 at Northampton Museum & Art Gallery
• Commemorative Postal Cover Post-marked 'Lamport' on BB's birthday 25
July 2005.
• Bibliography An illustrated publication featuring BB's books and books
illustrated by him.
• Subject Booklets A series of booklets focussing on various aspects of
BB's life and works: Carp Fishing; Butterfly Conservation; Children's Writings;
Wildfowling; BB's Homes, etc.
" BB Archive Establishing an official archive of BB's work (books, manuscripts,
drawings and emphemera) in Rugby School Library.
• Commemorative Plaque to be sited in the Chapel at Rugby School.
• Commemorative Service in All Hallows Church, Lamport, where BB's father
the Revd. Walter Watkins-Pitchford was the Rector.
• Brendon Chase CD The entire reading of BB's classic adventure story
read by Robin Browne on a series of CDs. First issued as part of the Talking
Books' series by RNIB.
