WAQ

The anti quarry protest group has made the final presentation to the inspector. The group received a commendation on the quality and content of the evidence submitted and we now await the inspector's deliberations due in the early Autumn.

Update November 13th 2007: in a recent press release the Northampton County Council stated that "We are now at the stage where a list of prefered sites to extract waste and minerals from has been published and is being consulted on. The Welford Lodge site is not included on this list."
"No final decision has been made and during this consultation people or organisations can put forward their opinions of sites and any others they may see as fit for such activity. this consultation will end on December 13."
"Following this the final proposals will be published and a final consultation stage will take place next Summer."

The web page on the Welford Village website will receive occasional updates - click here to stay in touch with what is going on.

'BB' Watkins-Pitchford

2005 marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of 'BB' (Denys Watkins-Pitchford), famous writer and artist who once lived in Welford. A new web page on this site has more information about him and his works.

Neighbourhood Watch

Neighbourhood Watch is active again in the village after an absence of about four years.

Coordinated by Stu Newton on 575484 or wnw@tesco.com, this is a follow-up to the flyer from Daventry Police in April this year and the programme is now looking for supporters and volunteers for the various areas and streets of the village. Contact details have been added to the various web pages and we will open a new web page for the project in the near future.
